Age Requirements:

Preschool – To be eligible for Preschool, a student must be the age of 3 years on or before August 1st of the year of enrollment.

PreK – To be eligible for PreK, a student must be the age of 4 years on or before August 1st of the year of enrollment.

Kindergarten – To be eligible for Kindergarten, a student must be 5 years of age on or before August 1st of the year of enrollment.

First Grade – To be eligible for 1st grade, a student must be 6 years of age on or before August 1st of the year of enrollment

Minimum Entrance Standards

Kindergarten | 5-6 year olds

  1. At least 5 years old by August 1st

  2. Hold & use a pencil correctly

  3. Write name / recite alphabet / count to 20

  4. Count sets of objects with one-to-one correspondence

  5. Recognize several numbers and letters of the alphabet along with sounds

  6. Socially and emotionally relate to adults and students in an age-appropriate way

1st grade | 6-7 year olds

  1. Use scissors, tie shoes, zip coat

  2. Write / name / sound-out alphabet

  3. Read simple 3-4 letter words

  4. Write the numbers 0-30

  5. Count by 1s to 50, skip count by 5s & 10s to 100

  6. Recognize & name 1-2 digit numbers

  7. Complete simple 0-9 addition/subtraction

2nd grade | 7-8 year olds

  1. Fluently read & comprehend Frog & Toad are Friends

  2. Print alphabet (upper and lower cases)

  3. Write complete sentences

  4. Quickly add & subtract 1 & 2 digit problems

3rd GRADE | 8-9 YEAR OLDS

  1. Fluently read Charlotte's Web

  2. Answer comprehension questions in complete sentences

  3. Add & subtract problems with borrowing & carrying

  4. Complete 100 addition / subtraction facts quickly and with ease

  5. Read a clock & count money

4th GRADE | 9-10 YEAR OLDS

  1. Fluently read The Lion, the Witch & the Wardrobe

  2. Label parts of speech: subject, adjective, adverb, preposition, object of the preposition, & verb

  3. Master third grade math concepts (Horizons 3 or Primary mathematics)

  4. Work multiplication problems 1-12 quickly and with ease

5th GRADE | 10-11 YEAR OLDS

  1. Fluently read & summarize The Last Battle

  2. Master fourth grade math concepts (Horizons 4)

6th GRADE | 11-12 YEAR OLDS

  1. Fluently read & summarize The Hobbit

  2. Label parts of speech: direct and indirect object

  3. Master fifth grade math concepts (Horizons 5 or Primary mathematics)
